Judith Babirye’s apology: A major lesson for all of us?

Why be angry at a soul that you celebrated when she went astray?

By Cyrus Geoffrey Rod

When Judith Babirye followed her own way, many people were hurt and burned with righteous indignation. However, there were many ministers of the gospel who supported those very actions and declared it was time for her to be happy.

On Sunday, Judith repented of her actions and acknowledged that they were wrong hence going back to loving her Jesus more than her self. This however, has attracted mixed reactions with many who were saddened and angered by her behavior before, running to embrace her and celebrating her return to the Truth, and those who had celebrated her previous behavior, standing shocked and angered by her repentance, saying, “she would have just stayed silent!”

Why be angry at a soul that you celebrated when she went astray? First and foremost, you are bitter at her because her actions as a popular singer had been used by you to justify your own wickedness and to also rationalize your behavior. You never celebrated her because you loved her but it was because you saw her as a layer to cover your own filth. Now she has repented! You are angry because your justification has fallen apart. You are angry because she is removing the rag from beneath your feet.

Major lesson for all of us?

Never build your faith on the actions of a popular person but on the true understanding of God’s word.

Secondly, real fulfillment is never found in what makes you feel good but in pleasing Jesus Christ even when it hurts.

Last but not least, stop hating her but this time follow her path of repentance and restoration instead of attacking her repentance.

Thank God for restoring Judith and believe that the same God can restore you.

Father, we thank you for the brokenness Judith has revived in this generation and help us to stop justifying our sins but repent!
