Ugandan Pastor Umar Mulinde who was attacked with acid after converting to Christianity from Islam, is set to launch an international organization aimed at advocating and defending freedom of worship, faith, and assembly across the globe.

The founder of Gospel Life Church International revealed Friday that International Christian Advocacy Network, will be launched on 26th September, 2020, and thereafter, offices established in various countries.

The organisation will also engage and bring awareness of worsening Christian persecution to government leaders.

To bring this to fruition, Mulinde appealed for prayer and financial support.

“Please send me your prayers for this matter,” he said. “I also ask you to contribute something whether little or much, even if it is just $10 or more.”

In-depth research by Open Doors shows that every single day 8 Christians are killed, 23 are raped or sexually harassed, and 10 are unjustly arrested or imprisoned because of their faith. There were more than 9,000 attacks on Christian churches in 51 countries in 2019.

Although about 85 percent of the people in Uganda are Christian, several have died, or been threatened just for confessing their faith, as this website has highlighted in various reports. In eastern Uganda, Islamist extremists have intensified their campaign to convert more people to Islam and persecute those who leave the religion for Christ.

On December 24, 2011, Muslims threw acid on Pastor Mulinde, and severely burned his face, neck and back. He was transported to Sheba Medical Center in Israel for treatment with the help of friends and Christian advocacy organisations.

“It was really a terrible experience. Acid had burnt me to near death, had God not helped me,” he said on Friday.

“Like wildfire, acid ripped through the body, eating away the fresh, the skin began to peel off, some medics had said that, I had 99% chances to die, my mouth had been severely burnt and teared up,” he went on.

“I couldn’t manage to talk, but I was painfully praying inside of me that if God wants me to be alive, then, let me cling on this remaining 1% so that I get healed in order to be able tell this story,” he said.

“The faithful God answered my prayer, and those prayers of other people around the world who got concerned and earnestly prayed for me! By God’s grace, I live to tell this story. It is a story of standing firm in the Lord dispute severe persecution,” he said.
