A Ugandan born-again street preacher, who was abducted on July 16 while sharing the gospel in Najjera I, Zanzi Stage, on the outskirts of Kampala city has resurfaced.

Mr Godfrey Nsamba showed up at his local church in Ntinda on 11 August, days after his release and shared a testimony of God’s faithfulness and manifestation in his darkest hours.

“I want to glorify the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Some men came and abducted me, I was on the road side preaching the gospel. They came and grabbed me,” Mr Nsamba told multitudes at The Praise Cathedral Church.

Earlier speaking to local media sources, Ms Betty Nsamba, the preacher’s wife stated that when Nsamba was abducted, it was only the conductor of a taxi close to the scene that witnessed the incident.

“There was one woman in the taxi who knew my husband and it’s her who came and told me,” she said. Ms Nsamba reported to Najjera Police Post but was referred to Kiira Division police where she filed a case of abduction.

“They took me somewhere of which I could not identify. The good thing is that they did not beat me. When I reached there, I found there some other people. They told me, ‘Please Pastor, God has brought you here to preach the gospel.'”

“I preached the gospel, I was ok, but my worry was that my people do not know where I am,” he continued. “I knew that the church is praying for me. We need to have faith in God, it was Jesus Christ who saved me.”

Mr Nsamba spoke less about his two weeks away from home, but stated that the kidnappers 2 weeks later dropped him off by a lake, he did not identify.

“Thank you Jesus for saving me, I am back home,” Nsamba said.

During investigations into this particular case, Kampala Metropolitan police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire said they managed to obtain a vehicle registration number in which Nsamba was abducted.

The officers, at that time, were to request for the details of the owner from URA, then commence investigations.

Internal Security Organisation Director Frank Bagyenda promised to look into the case.
