Watoto Church announces more locations as ministry founder turns 70

In a bid to reach more communities with the Gospel, Watoto Church in Kampala, has announced more locations. The development comes amid celebrations to mark Pastor Gary Skinner’s 70th birthday.

The ministry is set to plant a new Church in Jinja, a town in southern Uganda, on the shore of Lake Victoria, on 27th November 2022

“As we prepare to launch Watoto Church Jinja, let us pray for spiritual revival in Jinja and that we will see Godly impact there,” the ministry statement reads.

To-date, the ministry has multiple locations including those in Bugolobi, Bweyogerere, Entebbe, Gulu, Juba, Kyengera, Laminadera, Kansanga among others.

In a recent interview with a local news daily, Pastor Gary Skinner who founded Watoto Church together with his wife Marilyn in 1984, explained that success is not determined by the size of one’s bank account, one’s house but, “serving God and people as well as being faithful as a father and believer.”

On retirement from ministry, the couple explained that “we are slowing down not retiring.”

“When that time comes, I do not want to be standing in the way of the next generation. I do not think I will ever retire from Watoto Church but my role will change from being a primary leader to a primary servant. My wife and I will probably slow down and work less,” Pastor Gary said.
