Although leaving Islam is illegal in Iran, 347 people have came to Christ in the last three months.

This is according to Dr. Mike Ansari, the President of Heart4Iran, a partnership of multi-national organizations that are devoted to reaching the spiritually hungry nation with the hope of Christ through social media, mobile technology, satellite TV, and underground church planting.

Speaking to Mission Network News (MNN), Dr. Ansari explained that Iran’s government most recent attempts to stop Christian TV from entering the country have failed. “We changed our feed to be on a different satellite broadcasting from outside of Iran into Iran,” he said.

“The Iranian government is now engaging in blocking the calls [or] jamming the signal,” he continued.

This, however did not stop 347 people from came to Christ in the last three months, Ansari explained.

“A lot of [the] Iranian population [is] fed up with Islam, and they’re looking for other options. That’s why they call organizations like Mohabat TV, which is a 24/7 Christian satellite TV [broadcast] into Iran,” he told MNN.

More than 97 percent of Iranians are identified by the government as Muslims, but the reality is that a significant segment of the population has abandoned Islam and many have come to Christ, according to The Voice of the Martyrs.

Christians are persecuted by government authorities, which have a network of informants in each city. Family, friends and community members also persecute Christians, especially when news of a conversion becomes public.

Despite Ramadan, Ansari told MNN that he expects even more calls at their counseling centers in the days ahead.

“During the month of Ramadan, because of their (Muslims’) attempt to get closer to God, they are in a much better place to receive the Gospel of love from Jesus Christ,” he said.
