Ms. Margret Nakigudde, 92, waited several years to be a bride, before she took 96-year-old Yonasani Tumwesigye’s hand in marriage during Rubaga Miracle Centre Cathedral’s 77 Days of Glory Mass wedding on Thursday.

The two exchanged their wedding vows in front of Pastors, family and over 200 other newly-weds.

The love birds have been living together for over 20 years.

Pastor Robert Kayanja who presided over the celebration said the initiative is aimed at supporting those who cannot afford wedding ceremonies to also achieve the ‘married’ status.

Quoting Proverbs 14:34 which says; righteousness exalts a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people, Pastor Kayanja said “sanctifying marriages is the only way to go.”

“Young people as well, you don’t have to live in lust when you can make it right. People have made weddings a very complicated issue, it is like in the days of dark ages,” Pr Kayanja said.

“You don’t have to live in sin if you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Come here at Miracle Centre, we will wed you. Today we would have had over 4000 couples, but you know why we didn’t? Majority of them, because of the traditions of men, have not yet paid the dowry, they could not make it,” he explained.

“But we are helping them. In the next 2-3 months, another mass wedding is coming,” he added.
