ugandan-policeToday at 4.30 am, Police intercepted a bus which was transporting 76 Christians from Rukungiri to Kasangati.

As sources report, the group included 3 Anglican Reverends, RT Rev Bamushangire, Rt. Rev. kanyonyi and Rev. kahangirwe traveling along with Rukungiri Mayor HW Charles Makulu.

The group from All Saints Church had decided to shift its stand and hold the early Monday morning Easter service prayers in Kasangati with FDC presidential candidate Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye.

It is reported that the Christian Group is now under police siege at Kahunga near Ntungamo.

According to FDC Official sources, they have been undergoing physical and emotional torture the past 6 hours they have been arrested by Police.

Dr. Besigye has been in police restriction at his home in Kasangati since the eve of the elections.

Yesterday, Dr. Kizza Besigye, was to be hosted live from his home on NTV’s Fourth Estate at 10pm, however, the Program was blocked by police and members of the panel were only allowed in without equipment.

Bishop of Kampala Diocese; His Grace the Most Rev. Stanley Ntagali used his Easter Celebration sermon at All Saints’ Cathedral Kampala yesterday to call for dialogue and the immediate release of Dr. Besigye.

Police chief Gen. Kale Kayihura insists the Forum for Democratic Change candidate must denounce the defiance campaign to be able to walk free from his compound.

Dr. Besigye has gone to court to seek for justice prior, however, police spokesman Fred Enganga said that for security reasons,  they will not completely leave his compound even if court rules in his favour.
