9th Archbishop of the Church of Uganda (CoU), Dr. Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu has shared what he thinks God’s message to Uganda is during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking at the second National Prayer Day to end the COVID-19 pandemic on Saturday at the White House – Entebbe, Archbishop Kaziimba said the ongoing global crisis is a reminder that “God is in charge” and He is “calling the earth to order.”

“Let us slow down and listen to Him,” Archbishop Kaziimba started his speech.

“He is up to something. This is not just COVID-19. God has a purpose of calling us to Himself so we can know His power; so that we can know that He is God. He is in charge, no one else is,” Kaziimba said.

The Archbishop urged that the world isn’t under any one else’s control; ‘it’s under God’s control’, he said.

“Those (undergoing treatment for COVID-19) in developed countries need to know that it is God who heals. He says; be still and know that I am the one healing you. It is not anybody else. Let me ask this: Who is in charge of this world? Is it scientists? No, they are having limitations. Is it the religious leaders? No, we can lead the people, but God is the one in charge. Is it politicians? Are they the ones in charge? No, they have limitations. We have seen big counties and their presidents are shaking; they don’t know what to do,” he said.

“It is only our President who has been so firm: to God be the glory your excellency. It is God who is in charge, we all have limitations. God is the only one with the ultimate power and victory in every thing, and today, He is calling the earth to order.”

Archbishop Kaziimba said no one is sufficient to run their own life hence the need for God’s wisdom and help.

“What are the lessons that we are learning? Big hotels can stay without people. Those in developed countries may want to be here instead of being in their countries because it is safer here. What lessons are we learning? We can stay without living luxurious lives. People can stay in their countries and still survive. To God be the glory! People can be treated in their countries and be well. In Uganda, we salute our medical teams. Thank you very much. You have made it, not (on your own, but through Him) who is in you, and His name is God. He has helped you,” Kaziimba said. “Those in the neighboring countries may even want to get into Uganda for (Covid-19) treatment, because here it works. The God of Uganda is at work. All these lessons are teaching us something.”

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who quoted Genesis 1: 26-28, stated that man was made in the image of God and was given dominion over nature and so in such times, he should avoid Coronavirus and find a vaccine for it.

The First Lady, in prayer, thanked God for the unity of believers in such times and for the exemplary leadership of President Museveni through the uncharted waters.
