In the bid to offer practical financial solutions and innovative ideas to Christian business owners and workplace leaders across the country, Bishop Godfrey Mawa, the president of Commission International Inc. and wife, Hawa are set to host well established businessman David Katumwa during ‘The Connexion’ at Bat Valley Theater on 17th April, 2019.

‘The Connexion’ was started mid 2018 with the primary goal of stirring up Christians and non-Christians in various areas of societal influence: Religion, Family, Education, Government, Media, Arts & Entertainment and Economy.

Mawa and Hawa believe that each of the seven mountains is significant in shaping and bringing Godly order and values into the country.

David Katumwa, who says there are many christians who desire financial freedom, but only a few are willing to sacrifice and adopt practices that can lead them to success, started his journey by selling pancakes as a child in a village near Uganda’s capital, Kampala.

At that time, David had no clue that one day he would own his country’s most successful chain of sports shops.

Born into a very poor family, Katumwa’s pancakes helped him to pay his school fees until tough times forced him to abandon his studies.

But he continued with the business hustle and moved on to sell vegetables, fish and eventually second-hand sports shoes.

Then – with a start-up capital of $50 – he created the Katumwa Sports Centre in Kampala which now has 20 retail outlets across the country.

“I never got any loans from either friends or money lending institutions,” Mr Katumwa told the ‘BBC series African Dream’.

This will not be the first time David will grace ‘The Connexion’ stage. The event is expected to start 5pm, free entrance.
