While dining with a ruler, pay attention to what is put before you. If you are a big eater, put a knife to your throat; don’t desire all the delicacies, for he might be trying to trick you.

– Proverbs 23:1-3

I believe most of us as artists have been trapped in one way or another, yes!

Our gifts give us access to important people (Proverbs 18:16 – A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men), but we tend to get access when we are hungry, and we focus on what falls under the table, like Lazarus.

We seat at the gate for one thing, the bread.

There is more to life than bread, put a knife on your throat and then give out something that will add value to that Noble.

The bible says that knowledge fills the room with precious things, even important people need more filling.

To us as Christian artists, don’t allow the appetite to get in the way of your mission.  The word is what controls the appetite, that helps in every decision we make.
