Legendary Christian singer-songwriter and worship leader Don Moen is celebrating 49 years of marriage with his wife, Laura Moen.

The couple exchanged their wedding vows on May 19, 1973, and are blessed with 5 Children: James Moen, Rachel Moen, Michael Moen, John Moen and Melissa Moen and several grand children.

In a social media post Thursday, the “God Will Make a Way” hit singer explained that he is eternally grateful to God and his wife for this milestone.

“49 years ago today, I married this girl after a concert at a downtown theater/church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We welcomed anyone in the audience to stay for the wedding if they wished. The wedding started at 10:00 PM and we had about 1,000 people we didn’t know at our wedding.” Don Moen recalled.

The award-winning songwriter has according to reports, sold over five million records during his career. He earlier told the Christian Post that his music is birthed out of his deep love for Christ and desire to speak to the human experience.

“If you analyze my songs, you’ll see that a lot of them are prayers,” he said. “Life situations motivate me. I’m not the kind of songwriter that sits down in the morning and writes a song; I want to write songs that go beyond the intellect and emotion and really reach deep and touch people in their spirit. That’s what will change a life.

Speaking to Charisma News, the beloved worship leader also revealed that together with his wife, they waited on God for 12 years before they had their first child. He then shared the prophetic words that changed his life.

“Many years ago, after a concert outside of Phoenix, Arizona, a pastor gave a prophetic word to my wife, Laura. He said, “I see you giving birth to a child. … in fact, I see you giving birth to many children, but this will not stop you from traveling the world, sharing the good news of the gospel. I see an international family. Your children will go with you around the world.”

At that time, it was unknown to the couple the struggle they would face trying to have children.

“Many times we would listen to this word and wonder if it would ever come to pass. Years of tests, infertility doctors and miscarriages discouraged us and challenged what little faith we had left, but after 12 years, God gave us a baby girl, then a boy, then a girl, then another boy, then another boy! Yes, in seven years, God gave us five children,” he explained.

“And just as the pastor prophesied, they have all traveled the world with us as we share the good news of the gospel and still work with me in the ministry. God is so good,” he added.
