Ms Ingrid Turinawe, the FDC Secretary for Mobilisation and Makerere University Woman Councillor Doreen Nyanjura have been  arrested in Nakawa today (1st June, 2016) as they reportedly attempted to walk to Namugongo Martyrs Shrine.

The two were bundled in a police van before being driven away to unknown destination.

Ms Ingrid, Nyanjura Doreen were with fellow activists Atuhairwe Nicholas, Brian Atuheire Batenda and many more from Nakawa Chief Magistrate’s Court where the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) leader Besigye, who is confined for treason in Luzira prison was expected to appear.

Proceedings do indicate that Besigye was never brought to court as authorities stated that his appearance in Nakawa Court poses a security threat.
