God’s kingdom is spiritual with physical influence

The arrival of Jesus was the entry of God's kingdom on the earth.

By Pastor Ben Ochola

Jesus made it clear that the Kingdom He brought on the earth was not physical but spiritual.

Luke 17:20-21.

Now having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He replied, “The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed or with a visible display; nor will people say, ‘Look! Here it is!’ or, ‘There it is!’ For the kingdom of God is among you [because of My presence].” asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He replied, “The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed or with a visible display; nor will people say, ‘Look! Here it is!’ or, ‘There it is!’ For the kingdom of God is among you [because of My presence].”

Jesus further emphasized to Pilate during his trial that he was not here for earthly kingdom.

John 18:36.

“Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.”

The arrival of Jesus was the entry of God’s kingdom on the earth.

Of course in the Old Testament we see types and shadows of this kingdom.

We know the earth is the theatre of action and both God’s kingdom and devil’s find expression here in the natural world through man.

Our understanding of this fact is very important because it will help us know how to deal with issues not merely at the physical level but from the spiritual stand point.

Paul says,

Rom 14:17

“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”

The entry of the Holy Spirit into our hearts is the arrival of God’s kingdom in our lives.

God’s kingdom exists in the realm of the Holy Spirit.

The more the Holy Spirit is recognized and welcome in a place, and a person, the greater the influence of God’s kingdom.

And where the kingdom of God is having great influence, it will characterised by righteousness, peace and joy.

By reason of the fall, man is naturally born in the devils kingdom.  That therefore means, naturally man is under the influence of Satan until he or she gets born again.

On his discourse about the kingdom,

John 3:3-7

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”

The above scripture further cements the spirituality of God’s kingdom.

We are therefore to be spiritually minded so as to manifest this kingdom effectively where God has planted us.

The disciples had misunderstood Jesus mission thinking he had come to restore the physical nation of Israel and that’s why they were bickering all the time on who was the greatest  (Acts 1:6-8).

His response to their concern was, wait for descent the Holy Spirit up on you. Through the operation of this power, they would influence the entire globe.

We don’t engage in the fleshly battles nor is our weapon carnal ( 2Cor 10:3-6).

Having established the fact about the spirituality of the kingdom of God of which we are in,  we therefore need to be thus minded so that we have the same success Jesus had when he walked the earth.

We will shall in the next article explore how Jesus and NT saints soared and dominated their world.

Lord, let your kingdom come and let your will be done.

Stay blessed and favored.
