Following his 14 year tenure as Electoral Commission boss, Eng. Badru Kiggundu has on Monday expressed a strong sense of peace and tranquility towards Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Kizza Besigye.

This was during an interview with Simon Kaggwa Njala and Mildred Tuhiase of NBS’s Morning Breeze.

How do you regard Dr Besigye? He is my brother, Dr. Kiggundu answered Simon; adding that he is glad Besigye never attacked his looks.

Kizza Besigye competed against Museveni in the 2001, 2006, 2011 and 18 February 2016 general election; losing all attempts.

For all petitions filed by the opposition leader, court said the irregularities were not substantial enough to warrant a cancellation of the results and call for fresh polls.

On that account, Dr Besigye said he would never again petition the court but he blamed the EC for overseeing an unfair election. He repeatedly said that Eng. Kiggundu is a stooge of President Museveni.

Early last week, President Museveni appointed another electoral commission headed by Justice Simon M. Byabakama.

Eng. Kiggundu says that if there is any team that followed the law, it is Electoral Commission and, “I request the new chairperson to do the same.”

During the show still, he congratulated his entire team for the job they performed while in office stating that they served with dignity.
