We believe that the health of a family is so critical to the health of any community. If families are healthy, we believe, nations will be healthy. That is why we as Watoto, we take a month – sometimes more – to focus on teaching messages that are about bringing back the grace of God into our families, so that we can experience healing…

We learn that God relates with us through a covenant. A covenant is that agreement that brings people together in a life long commitment – and in Uganda we can say; Pakalast. Marriages must be built on that covenant where you say; I do, till death do us apart. When we stay in God’s covenant, we stay in His blessing. When we step out of this covenant, we step out of His blessing.

Living a blessed family, is about having a family mission. Every Church in the whole world, we all have the same mission. And this mission is to reach the lost for Jesus Christ.

I also believe that every family needs to have a mission. We need to know why we exist, when you do not know why you exist, you live for everything. Everything that comes your way, you want to imitate it. If you don’t know your why, you loose your way.

3 reasons why mission is very important for your family.

1. When you have a mission in your family, there is clarity in life and there is focus.

When you know why you exist, all of a sadden, many things do no matter – David said; One thing have I desired from the LORD, this only do I seek.. We were never meant to do everything, there is a unique and specific assignment that the Lord has for you. When you get clarity and focus in life, you do not live to please everyone. If they are not pleased, it is their business, for as long as you know what God has called you to do – that is clarity.

This Light that we see from the sun is a little hot right now. Why? Because it is scattered every where. But if you brought a convex lens and placed it under that light, it is going to bring those rays together. If you put a paper under it, it is going to get burnt. Mission defines for us what we need to be doing with our lives right now. We are not playing life, we are in the real deal. Today is not practice for tomorrow, everyday is a day that the lord has made, and you need to live it to the full. If you do not know why you exist, you loose your way in life. Mission clarifies and brings focus.

2. Mission brings synergy or unity.

When you know where you are going as a family, you have a common purpose/goal. All of you are not playing by different tunes living in independence.

Some families, their homes are just lodges, people come to sleep at night and disappear during day, every body is pursuing their own stuff, nothing brings you together. That is not a family, that is a hotel. Deuteronomy 32:30 says; How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight.. When we come together, when we have a clear mission, there is such energy that is generated for all of us.

Leviticus 26:8 says; Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand… now, I did some math, and this thing is not mathematical. Five will chase a hundred, that means by the same standard, a hundred should chase two thousand. But it says a hundred of you will chase ten thousand. It doesn’t make sense because when all of you come together, you multiply the energy of each other, it is not just addition. That is what happens when you know where you are going, and come together through that common goal. We are not independent, we are interdependent.

3. Mission brings Passion.

You are passionate. When you wake up Monday morning and say; Its morning Lord!Probably you do not know your mission in life –  “Man its Monday, not again.” Then you play the boss wondering how the day is going to turn out. Then you say; for the sake of the money, I will work. You are surviving, not thriving. There is no passion, energy. What you want is the check at the end of the day, period! You do not love what you do. Many of us live that way in life. ‘Life is happening on us’.

God intended that he lives through you so that when people look at you, they see some energy, passion. They see someone ready to wake up to the day, because they know why the exist. You cannot wait for your leave at work – when you find someone who loves what they do and, do what they love,  they are not worth any amount of money.

Caleb in the bible inspires me. He was one of the two spies who went into the city of Jericho. They were 12 of them. When they came back, the other ten looked at the promised land for what it looked like, and told a story that made all of the nation to die in the desert. But Joshua and Caleb, when they went there and saw the giants, they reported back saying; Yes, this land there are giants, but with God on our side, we are going to posses the land. Caleb was 40 then. At that moment, because he had a report of faith God gave him a piece of property in the land that he went to. (Joshua 14: 10). Passion, the energy to live and know why you exist.
