The leadership of Kansanga Miracle Centre (KMC) has issued a statement following an incident at House of Rest – Kampala where a ceiling caved in on Christians holding prayers on Monday.

Preliminary findings by the National Building Review Board (NBRB) pointed to the old age of the building and possible repairs on the ceiling that could have added more load to the structure.

“Thank you family for standing with us in this trying moment, all the care and love showed is highly welcomed,” the Church said in a release on Tuesday.

“The situation is fine and (we were) protected by the hand of the Most High God. We’re not ceasing to pray and to fight the enemy,” they added.

According to a police report, over eighteen (18) people were recovered alive Monday evening, and admitted to Mulago Hospital due to serious injuries sustained at the scene of the incident.

Luke Owoyesigyire the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson said one of the victims, only identified as Mama Nava, a resident of Nsambya, in Kampala succumbed to her injuries.

House of Rest was gazetted by pastor Isaac Kyobe Kiwewesi in the city centre more than 3 years ago, as a place of Christian fellowship especially for those that need to pray or hear the Word of God during various parts of the day.
