In a move aimed at strengthen marriages and families, House of Prayer Ministries International (HMP) led by its founder and vision bearer, Aloysius Bujjingo launched ‘Church Girl Ministry’.

Eye brows were raised over the new initiative reportedly backed by Pastor Aloysius Bujjingo’s spouse Suzan Makula.

In his submission, Pr Bujjingo stated that Church Girl Ministry will develop programs designed to empower and prepare both women and men for marriage.

“The challenge I have is to ensure that every girl child that gets married at House of Prayer Ministries never regrets her decision,” he said. “Ahead of me and the pastors I am working with, we have a task to make very good marriages out of the youth that are all over this ministry.”

“We intend to teach them good morals, most especially if they were brought up in the absence of their mothers. Regardless of how they were raised, as long as they come to Church, we are going to teach them,” he said, citing HPM married women and elders as the program’s educators.

Pastor Aloysius Bujjingo likened the vision of Church Girl Ministry to that of ‘Ekisaakaate’ (Royal Enclosure) started by Buganda queen Sylivia Nagginda in 2007.

Church Girl Ministry spokesperson Ms Nabagala said they will have several outreaches to hospitals and prisons so as to “help the community.”

“Our main aim is to see that every girl in church has a deep and strong relationship with Christ,” she said.

‘Practice what you preach’

Church Girl Ministry received a mixed reception online due to controversial remarks made earlier by Pr Bujjingo about the marriage institution. He was singled out for strong criticism against marriage vows and rings.

The preacher left the nation in shock when he announced intentions of divorcing his wife Teddy Bujjingo after several years of marriage. They had four children.
