When everything is going our way, patience is easy to demonstrate. The true test of patience comes when we stand long in the queue, when our rights are violated—when another car cuts us off in traffic; when we are treated unfairly; when our partner derides our faith among other reasons. As you do observe, some people think they have a right to get upset in the face of irritations and trials. Impatience seems like a holy anger.

Pr Cyrus Rod, CEO at Cyrus Rod Ministries and author of a soon to be launched book titled ‘Unlocking Marital Bliss‘ shared a number of key issues about hardships that hit when one is in instant need of everything, wisdom that we trust will be of great necessity to a believer.

Where many of us presumably assert that we should always move our dreams at a terrific speed and have instant answers to prayer, the natural response when things slow down during hardships is impatience which leads to stress, anger, and frustration.

Speaking to believers on social media, Pastor Cyrus agrees that, this race is not a sprint but a marathon, and he sheds light on the fact that it does not demand speed but patience and patience is only needed where hardships exist.

“This generation teaches on how to avoid hardships because hardships obstruct speed. Little do they know that without hardships, you cannot have patience and where patience is not, character cannot develop, and when character does not develop, you can’t but become hopeless for genuine hope is only produced by character,” he wrote

Sometimes God puts us in difficult situations so that we can be a witness. Other times, He might allow a trial for sanctification of character. For many, once hardships hit, the first question we ask with such great emotions is, “why me?”

Pastor Cyrus Rod says that any hope you claim to possess without character, is like milk to a baby, designed to stir your system up, but not to sustain you. “Hardships must come so you feed on meat in order to be sustained. Your addiction to speed is blinding you to reality as your emotions replace faith,”

“You must understand that emotions are fickle, they have no ground and anyone driven by emotions has no ground to stand upon. Your greatest nightmare is standing, yet Jesus command to His own is to stand. Why has speed become addictive in our generation? It is because we are confirming to the standards of the world hence have no ground to stand on,” he further stated.

We remember His promises such as Romans 8:28, which tells us that “all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” The “all things” include the things that try our patience.

“Speed junkies cannot stand because they are on the go and that is why all these manipulative teachings that promise you “instant” have become very popular. But I promise you that regret awaits those who think this race is a sprint,”

The next time you are hit by a hardship, how will you respond? We have the Lord’s strength to respond with patience and in complete trust in the Father’s power and purpose.
