“Dr Joseph Serwadda, a top Pentecostal cleric, who delivered the sermon of the service and Pastor John Mulinde of World Trumpet Mission, who gave the prayer of the nation, both did not hint on the matter of the killings in the Rwenzori sub-region.” Writes the Daily Monitor, a renowned independent daily newspaper.

This statement follows an outcry from Christians across all denominational lines who took to twitter using the hashtag ‘#PrayForKasese’  in an effort to remind the world to pray for this war-torn town located in the western region of Uganda.

Kasese was in late november torn apart when the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) mounted an operation to recover all illegal firearms from the Rwenzururu kingdom royal guards, leaving over 116 people dead, including royal guards and police officers.

The same newspaper has pointed a finger at Uganda President Y.K museveni for not making mention of this ordeal at such a national prayer gathering.

“At the prayers, only First Lady Janet Museveni mentioned Kasese killings in passing, when she prayed for the “people of Kasese” while delivering the closing prayer at the annual National Thanksgiving service.” the newspaper adds.
