Pr Kayanja condemns ‘misleading’ remarks on marriage vows

“The brother is not reading the bible.”

Pastor Robert Kayanja has rejected and condemned the recent statement of House of Prayer Ministries International lead Pastor Aloysius Bujjingo on Marriage vows, terming his teaching as ‘incorrect and misleading.’

Pastor Kayanja said during a Marriage Retreat on Saturday that maintaining a godly perspective of the purpose of marriage provides the foundation for a successful relationship between a couple.

The Miracle Centre Cathedral – Rubaga vision bearer said marriage between a husband and wife is a lifelong commitment (until death does us apart), and that it was intended to portray the marriage of Jesus Christ to the Church.

“The brother is not reading the bible,” Pastor Kayanja said, referring to Bujjingo.

“I used to think that his problem was English, but now I fully believe that the brother is anointed to start a new cult. He attacks rings, he attacks Christmas, and everything that has been designed to give God all the glory,” he added.

Pr Kayanja noted that the essence of cults is to borrow ideas from many other religions in order to accommodate every other person in the entire world.

Pastor Aloysius Bujjingo who doubles as founder of Salt Media, claimed it is not in accordance with the Bible for couples to say “until death do us part” in marriage vows.

Bujjingo called the statement ‘a trap’ orchestrated by Satan.

“Where in the bible do we find “until death do us part”? Who did God instruct this? Did Abraham make this vow when marrying Sarah? Did Isaac make this vow when marrying Rebecca? Did Jacob make this vow when marrying Rachel. There are so many couples in the bible. Who among them made a vow “until death do us part?”” Pr Bujjingo asserted.

Pastor Kayanja quoted Luke 1:1-4, noting that God hates divorce, and that any deviation from His design is abhorrent to Him.

The passage reads,

“Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.”

Pastor Kayanja also explained from the book of Genesis that when Adam and Eve sinned, God did not divorce or abandon them, but “gave them a chance to rebuild themselves.”

“Adam did not divorce his wife, as much as he lost a lot. He lost the garden, and everything. But even then, Jehovah did not create another woman for Him. If He was to do so, that means He would have to go into Adam, and pull out another rib, but He didn’t. He shed the blood for their covering. He made a garment for them, and He blessed them…God would have said, ‘this marriage is not working or that it is not compatible, let me take a man and give him another woman.’,” Pr Kayanja explained.

Pastor Kayanja cautioned against blaspheming the Holy Spirit, and observed that Revelation 22:18-19 contains a warning to anyone who tampers with biblical texts.

Pastor Kayanja said Bujjingo “knows how to capture crowds by lying to them.”

“Let the brother get back to the Grace of God. Let him not mislead people,” he said. “If you don’t believe in marriage, you do not believe in family. If you don’t believe in family, you do not believe in generational blessings. Your wife is part of you. she is your rib. You are one,” he said.

“He [Pr Bujjingo] is building a new cult that does not regard family, does not respect children and does not regard the norms of society. He does not honor God or respect the Holy Spirit,” he added.

Early last year, the nation woke up to shocking news that Pastor Aloysius Bujjingo had left his wife Teddy Naluswa Bujjingo after 29 years in marriage and moved in with (a one) Susan Nantaba Namakula in 2016.

Just last week, Teddy Bujjingo launched a new church named Word of Salvation Ministries International at Hotel Triangle in Kampala.

The launch was graced by Pastor Robert Kayanja’s wife Jessica Kayanja.

“I want to thank Pr Jessica for being at the fore front, not because she is my wife, but because she is a woman of truth,” Pastor Kayanja further said at the Retreat.

“We found the bible here, and are going to leave it here. It is the Word of God which is the foundation of our lives and churches. We should be honorable enough to hand the Word over to the next generation as it is,” he said.

“People are running away from the word of God because they want to please man. We rather offend man, and please the almighty God,” Pr Kayanja said.
