Founding Pastor of Life Church, Bwaise, Jackson Senyonga and wife Eve arrive for the mass wedding of 600 couples.

Founding Pastor of Christian Life Church, Bwaise, Jackson Senyonga has joined into Holy Matrimony 600 couples on Saturday.

The expectant bridegrooms received the brides amid cheer from hundreds that have gathered to witness the historical event Pastor Ssenyonga said is the “largest ever” mass wedding in Uganda.

The outward look of Christian Life Church during the Mass wedding was unlike the usual.

Traffic officers were forced to block off a section of the road to Makerere – Kavule so as to give way to hundreds of cars [branded with movit logo] that fetched brides to the premises ahead of their wedding vows.

Arrivals started as early as 10 AM and ended close to 2PM. Couples, who were accompanied by matrons were then led into the church where they exchanged vows.

Despite the scotching sun, the church was a centre of joyous activities as brides and their grooms sauntered in draped in their different wedding gowns and different shades of suits.

“The righteousness of God exalts a nation. This is the biggest mass wedding in Uganda, and it is a wedding by born again Christians. We are witnessing a historic moment in the nation of Uganda today. To God be the glory, in Jesus’ name.” Pr Ssenyonga said.

Pastor Senyonga has been leading the church through the popular ‘Praise, Prayer, Power, Prosperity, and Permanent Miracles’ [P5] revival meeting.

He recently told reporters they used to see spiritual breakthroughs on the church and community level, but as they have come together in unity in the Body of Christ, they have seen national breakthroughs.

In April 1995, Jackson started Christian Life Church with seven people. By a move of God, he said they had 2,000 people in two weeks. “Seeking God’s presence and not church growth”, they now have 25,000 people in the church.
