In a move aimed at taking aggressive action to curb the coronavirus which has now infected more than 200,000 people and killed more than 8,000 globally, Churches in Uganda are closed for 30 days starting 18 March, 2020.

“All church prayers have been terminated with immediate effect for thirty days,” President Yoweri K. Museveni said in his address on Wednesday.

“How will God forgive us when we say let’s have one more gathering then in that gathering there is a person infected? Prayers will continue but in homes,” he added.

According to the President, the closure is only “temporary.”

“We should do this to deny the coronavirus a chance,” he added.

Born again Christian leaders including Dr Joseph Serwadda and Pastor Robert Kayanja revealed earlier that government is set to issue a directive that requires Churches to stop congregational activity.

“Yesterday, the President called us to the State House for a meeting on coronavirus,” Dr Serwadda said.

“We were able to see him, and this is what was decided..on 18th March, 2020, between 3-5pm, he will go live on air and address the nation. He has decided to put the entire nation on lock down. All schools are going to close effective 19-20 March, 2020. Prayer services are not going to be conducted at all places of worship,” the presiding apostle of the Born Again faith, noted.

Despite the directive, Pastor Kayanja urged that the body of Christ must remain “rooted in prayer and serving others.”

“This is the time to seek the Lord, this is the time to pray. I know God is going to do mighty things. We are going to keep on ministering to you, and coming to you live,” he said.

“We should do everything possible to keep ourselves from being infected. And I believe by God’s Grace, the Lord is going to help us do so.” he explained.

Adding, “The issue is, we have got people who are being smuggled into the nation. We are surrounded by nations that have reported cases of coronavirus: Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda and Congo. And the new offers on the discount Accutane is available now buy accutane online That is where we are standing at the moment.” “Do we agree with shutting down churches? Maybe not. But it is a national precaution. I never thought it could come to this. But, we need to be vigilant,” he added.

The pastor noted that the five weapons of our warfare to overcome the coronavirus include standing on the promises of God, praise, worship and obedience.

“If you are obedience you will eat the good of the land. And we obey authorities, these include: The authority of the integrity of the word of God, The authority of governments because, there is no authority that does not come from God, Authority of the believer,” he said.
