Founder of Watchman Ministries, Mr Joseph Kabuleta Kiiza has said the pastor of Namirembe Christian Fellowship, Prof. Simeon Kayiwa “gave me his blessing” when he declared presidential bid for 2021.

Kabuleta, who believes Uganda can only be liberated by voting a president who is God fearing, issued a statement on Saturday stating Prof. Simeon Kayiwa offered him “great advice” concerning “the big step I have taken to seek the mandate of leading our country.”

“It was wonderful spending time with him, listening to his fountain of wisdom, getting his encouragement, prayer and anything you can expect from someone who is a doyen of the Born Again Faith in this country; a faith to which I belong, a person whose work has touched millions of people,” he added.

In Uganda, Prof. Simeon Kayiwa is listed among the pioneers of the Born Again Movement.

The electoral Commission in November 2020 conducted a two-day nomination exercise and cleared a total of 11 candidates to run in the 2021 general elections on 14 January.

Aside Mr Joseph Kabuleta, the other candidates include incumbent President Yoweri Tibahaburwa Kaguta Museveni, 24-year-old John Katumba and Nancy Linda Kalembe, the only female candidate, former Security minister Henry Tumukunde, former army commander Mugisha Muntu, Norbert Mao, Patrick Amuriat Oboi, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, Fred Mwesigye and Willy Mayambala.

Mr Kabuleta called upon Ugandans to only vote God-fearing leaders who can rule according to God’s will rather than those who practice witchcraft.

“I was God sent to stand as a presidential candidate to liberate this country because I am God fearing and I am the solution to solve the problems people are facing,” said  Mr Kabuleta said in November.
