Renown Pastor, television show host and author, Cyrus Rod of Dominion Faith Church in Kampala, has responded to remarks by Pope Francis, leader of the Catholic Church, who said sex outside of marriage is not the “most serious” sin.

In an update via Facebook on 11 December, 2021, Pastor Cyrus Rod urged that “sex outside marriage is a very serious sin just like all sin!”

He continued: “In fact it is very serious that it took God to sacrifice his own Son in order to deal with it once and for all!”

During a question and answer session with reporters on a flight back to Italy from Greece on December 6, 2021, the Pope said: “Sins of the flesh are not the most serious.”

According to Reuters, the 84-year-old religious leader asserted that pride and hatred were “the most serious” of sins.

In a subsequent statement, Pastor Cyrus Rod stated that the Kingdom of Christ is not here to co-exist with the prevailing customs and systems of the world.

“The King demands that His culture be imposed here and not us adopting the culture of this foreign Kingdom. Sadly, His subjects in trying to co-exist have now embraced the culture that contradicts the King and His Kingdom hence losing our saltiness! Our Culture doesn’t co-exist with all that’s here,” Pastor Cyrus urged.

“We are sent in this world to be transformers but what hurts most is that many of us have become conformers! In this, we use our words to let the world know we are believers, to their shock: because our actions are similar to theirs,” he said.
