First rising gospel music singer Rodney Noah Nuwematsiko, commonly known by his stage name Rad Ney, was brought up in a Christian family however, that does not mean he has not gone through some of what many battle including rejection, criticism, private pains and deep hurts.

The 20-year-old has during an interview with UG Christian News revealed that when nobody understands what you are going through, God does.

It is such an experience that has inspired him to release a song titled ‘Let it out’, which he notes addresses the subject of prayer among believers.

“My journey has not been an easy one. I have suffered a lot of criticism, rejection and financial challenges. However, I can boldly say they have nurtured me into the person that I am today.” Rod Ney, who is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in art and industrial design at Kyambogo University says.

“‘Let it out’ is simply about prayer. The word prayer cuts across every tribe, country. Everybody goes through something pressing or feels imperfect but, nothing can make you feel better like speaking to God about what you are going through. Prayer is the solution to every question in life. I sung this song for me but, largely every single person in the world.” He adds.

Rad Ney says whenever he prays or comes before God in worship, there is always a sudden change in the atmosphere.

“I get to a different place and it makes me feel so closer to God. Like I’m right there, bang, at the throne of my king and I’m experiencing his holiness and power. Prayer makes me feel Holy again even when I feel so dirty or unworthy. I’m still working on my life as a Christian every day and every-time, and so is every single one (1st John 1:8).” He says.

Rod Ney was raised by a single mother and is the last born of three. His mother introduced him to the Born Again movement while in Primary two.

“It’s kinda hard to trace the specific date. I however made a personal mature confession in my primary six.” He says.

“I’ve loved music from back then as a toddler. I started writing music before I even knew ‘CHH’ existed in chemistry. Word has that I would whistle mature melodies at the age of 4 months. I do largely Contemporary music but a lot of people know me as a Hip-Hop artist.” He notes.

His father had a Cultural troupe from which he learned some basics of the art. He first recorded his first single in Form 6 vacation (2015), titled ‘Hear me out’. “I’m exactly 2 years old in the industry.”

Rad Ney has elsewhere released such songs that include; Hear me out that features Digna, TBT and Krazy, XtraOdinaale with Zabuli and Clique that features Ruyonga.
