Students Conference: Bishop Makumbi answers pressing questions

Bishop Patrick Makumbi urges students to learn how to pray every day and make God their number one friend.

The ‘Question and Answer’ segment introduced during the 16th annual students conference organized by International Gospel Healing Centre in Lweza on Saturday prompted high school pupils to open up about the battles they go through during their walk with Christ.

One student, from several schools that graced the conference asked Bishop Patrick Makumbi why even after being born-again she still experiences ‘spiritual attacks’ during the night.

Another student, from Salvation College Kajjansi asked the Bishop, “whenever I kneel down to pray, I get distracted and start thinking of worldly things – sometimes I sleep off – what can I do?”

Nangila Suzan from Hope Boarding Secondary School said she is “born-again day and night,” but concerned about preachers who don’t condemn sin in their sermons. She highlighted the poor dress code in churches which she said discourages many from pursuing God.

Some of us come form families which are totally different, where by one or more of your relatives are practicing witch craft,” Bishop Makumbi said, responding to a students questions. “A night is meant for rest. Nothing should interfere with your sleep. But every time you find yourself struggling in your sleep, you should know they are forces of darkness.

Every time you experience such a thing, you have to lift up your hands, pray and call upon God to protect your life. The devil fears one name, and that is the name of Jesus. Every time the devil comes to attack you in your dreams, break his power and release the fire of God to destroy him in Jesus’ name,” Bishop Makumbi said.

He urged the students to learn how to pray every day and make God their number one friend.

When I say; pray every day, I don’t mean ignore your books to concentrate on praying. However, be reminded that in this world, we have an enemy who is satan,”

Makumbi told students it is dangerous for one to share a problem with someone who is going to do nothing about it. “Talk to people who will change your life, and help you overcome the trouble that you are in. Believe God for the best of you to come out,” he said.

To the students who get distracted during prayer, Bishop Makumbi shared Philippians 4:8 encouraging them to think right.
