In 2015,  Julie Deborah was involved in a fatal car accident together with fellow gospel singer Simon Mirembe in Kyengera, along Masaka road. This accident left the two hospitalized at Mengo hospital; unconscious.

Their state of health got a huge section of their fans and friends worried that they would never make it out of the hospital alive. At the same time, several media houses published all sorts of stories about what events transpired before the accident in which it was alleged that the gospel singers were drunk when the accident took place.

Known for several hit singles that include ‘Ndi steady’, ‘Oli Kimuli kyange’, ‘Nkomyewo Kitange’ that turned her into a household name, Julie on sunday launched a new church, revealing that God laid upon her the vision of raising the next generation, maintaining a praying spirit among believers and winning people’s souls back to Christ through love.

So many people are still skeptical about what really happened to Julie Deborah before and after this fatal accident. She used her speech at the grand launch of Prayer Healing Tabernacle international ministries Kibili Ggangu to thank God for the miraculous escape from the jaws of death and a new chance to serve Him even better.

The launch was graced by over 20 pastors and several gospel artists.

Pr Julie Testifies

When I had an accident. I was overwhelmed by what was said. It is true the accident brought about a slight re-location of my brain, with blood spilling into it. I was announced dead. When doctors came to cross examine my body, they said that my heart had stopped beating. But there is always an intercessor on the inside.

They called other doctors and said, let us try our best and see if pulse can be restored. They told those that had come to see me that if there were any chances of recovery, I would be mentally unstable thereafter.

I was deeply disturbed by the comments I heard far and wide, yet my brain was sick. The Lord is so good. There is a family, Mr Mayanja and his wife Lydia, that discharged me from where I had been admitted for treatment. They took me and hid me to the far ends of Entebbe.

They kept me there and did a great job nursing me. Thereafter, I was so scared, I was never to return to Church because whatsapp and facebook, Christian and non-Christian radio and TV stations were filled with all talk about me.

As any normal person, I felt so burdened. My heart was heavy. The words many said were as sharp spears direct to my heart. I had decided to desert church, take refuge in rural areas where I would later share the gospel.

There is a lady called Suzan Mirembe, it was a Saturday, I told her that I am going to stay at home, and keep away from all prayer meetings. Suzan sat me down and counselled me. She told me that tomorrow you are going for prayers – you cannot desert the calling from God, because of what people are saying. Truth is that I had committed never to return to Church.

Nevertheless, so many people reached out to me, financially and otherwise. I returned to Church. I would like to thank Suzan Mirembe. That lady did a lot for me. I wouldn’t be here today had she given up on me. I was not going to Pastor again. But Praise be to God, This day is here. Thank you for loving me.

I thank all the ministers I found when I returned to Church – I do not pay ministers. They have been there for me.

Pr Remmy I thank you. All before the accident, when I told him about my vision, he drove me in his car and brought me to the land our church structure was to be listed – it was a bush in every sense of it. We paid the landlord, and dug to level the ground. Pr Remmy then anointed this place and dedicated it to the Lord.

At the Launch of Prayer Healing tabernacle International : R-L; Pr Julie Deborah, Pr Jamada, Pr Kaweesi.

Pr Kaweesi M – When Julie had an accident, I was informed quite soon, I called and immediately made my way to the hospital. We prayed for her, we commanded life into her.  Julie Deborah had an accident at 2pm in the evening. but it is only at midnight that she slightly shook her body for the first time. She has a mandate. Julie would be dead. But because she has a mandate from God, she is still here.

Pastor Jamada Kikomeko – I also visited Julie immediately she was admitted to hospital. Pr Mugisha Mondo called me and told me that, “Hey, if somebody announced Julie deborah’s death, don’t be in doubt or shock.” I want to thank God that Julie is alive.

Julie you are a singer. Don’t forget how people came to know you. If you quit music, you will not be able to carry on with your pastoral duties as well. You should front music much more than what you are officiating to do right now. I am a pastor, but I take my evangelical duties much more seriously. People know me for reading the bible and the quran (He was a former Muslim, who upon accepting christ reveals the controversy in the koran as a tool of evangelismat the same time. If I let go of these duties, I am lost.

What is Pr Julie up to now?

Pr Julie is to buy off the piece of land upon which the church launched, still a temporary structure, will be build. It goes for 63 million. By the end of the launch, about 17 million had been raised – in cash and pledges.
