Tributes have come in from around the world following the death of Pastor Oluwadamilare Temitayo Adeboye, 42, son of world-renowned Pastor Enoch Adeboye.

Pastor Oluwadamilare died in his sleep on Tuesday at Eket, Akwa Ibom State, in Nigeria where he was a youth pastor.

His death was confirmed by the spokesperson of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Olaitan Olubiyi, on Thursday morning. “Though shaken, our anchor remains Jesus Christ in whom we have the assurance that we will one day meet in a place where there is no pain,” RCCG said.

According to Premium Times – Nigeria, Mr Adeboye last year described the deceased as his first “miracle child.”

Oluwadamilare reportedly had no apparent health issues and simply went to bed after a preaching assignment then failed to wake up, according to his wife, Temiloluwa, with whom he fathered three children.

A statement by the church signed by Leke Adeboye, the younger brother of the deceased, said a special service would be held on Sunday, May 9, at the City of David Youth Church in Eket, Akwa Ibom.

The statement revealed that thanksgiving songs and tribute would be held on May 10, 2021 at the RCCG House of Favour, Redemption Camp, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

It added that this would be followed by a farewell service on Tuesday, May 11, at the Youth Centre, RCCG Redemption Camp.

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari condoled with Mr Adeboye’s family.

“My deepest sympathies to the family of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), on the passing of his son, Pastor Oluwadamilare Adeboye. I pray that God Almighty will grant the departed rest, and comfort grieving family, friends & associates,” he said on Twitter.

Also, the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, commiserated with the family of the deceased.

Adeboye, according to a report by the Christian post, is one of the most successful preachers in the world. The news outlet says his church has outposts in 110 countries including Uganda. In Nigeria alone, where he claims some 5 million members, his church has 14,000 branches. Some 360 RCCG churches can be found in Britain, with about the same number spread across cities in the U.S., such as Chicago, Dallas and Tallahassee, Florida.
