Uganda National Examinations Board Executive Secretary, Mary Okwakol handed over the 2016 UCE results to the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni at the offices of the President in Kampala on Tuesday.

Joshua Yatulwanira Kiganda, son of Bishop David LivingStone Kiganda of Christianity Focus Centre is one of those who have successfully passed in Division one.

Joshua, who is a student at St Henry’s Kitovu got 28 aggregates.

He told journalists on Tuesday that the exams were challenging however, he thanks God for enabling him to triumph.

While speaking shortly before the official release of the results, UNEB chairperson Prof. Mary Okwakol said there was is a slight drop in performance 2016 compared to 2015.

A total of 323,276 candidates registered for the exams, which were conducted in 3454 centers countrywide. About 316,600 sat for the exams while 6600 students missed.

Additionally, while last year’s O’ Level exams were conducted smoothly without leakages, the results of as many as 1,893 candidates have been withheld – until investigations are complete.
