It is time to celebrate that there is hope in the midst of our broken, fearful, messed-up, grief-filled lives.

We cannot heal Uganda on our own. We cannot resurrect what is dead in Uganda with our own abilities. There is need to acknowledge and give way to one more powerful, the authority above all else – one to who all creation is subject. He is loving and able. I believe the celebration of Easter has come just at the right time.

It is time to celebrate that there is hope in the midst of our broken, fearful, messed-up, grief-filled lives.

Christ’s victory over the grave brought exhilaration to his disciples and other Christians who were beaten down. After seeing Jesus again, their strength and hope were renewed to go ahead and live their lives proclaiming Jesus as the way to Knowing God and experiencing peace.

We need Christ this second quarter of the year. We need to know that there is indeed vision for a better Uganda. We need to know that all is not lost — we can push the reset button and try again. We need to know that there is a supreme authority that can do what no earthly authority can do, that we are somebody, and that we are loved!

I read the headlines each day. I saw how Uganda grew cold over the death of AIGP Kaweesi. I saw what happened when lives were lost in Kasese! Stella Nyanzi – today’s talk of town. I have read headlines on corruption taking a firm grip of many sectors of the government. People are invisibly bleeding. Divorce is celebrating higher rankings. You remember the murder case involving the Kanyamunyus – how about the Presidential handshake? I have seen Ugandans feel helpless.

Dear friend, Easter is the time for us to remember that no matter how much we feel frustrated – do you curse the morning over those you feel are to blame for the country’s mess or have failed to serve the needs of others, or neglected to work for justice and peace – we are given a second chance to make this country a foreshadowing of the Kingdom of God where peace, equality, justice, forgiveness, hope and love rule.

Let us Embrace this Easter. Over the past year we have learned that the political divide in our nation still exists and it has blinded us to seeing the goodness that is within each of us. We need Easter to remind us to love again!

This year we have seen corruption disrupt the world — evil has cloaked itself in religion. This has caused us to question the motives of our fellow human beings. Our strength and our unity has been weakened, not by terrorism, but by our doubts. We need Easter to give us the strength to overcome evil!

Jesus came to live. He died. His story is one of overcoming the grave. He brought joy to people like Thomas who touched his hands and exclaimed my Lord and my God.

Jesus was already in the practice of giving joy and new life. This is my appeal to Church leaders. Let us be fountains of love and not division- it is Christ that lives in us. He gave hope to a woman caught in adultery and was about to be stoned. He gave joy and new life to a leper who no one else would touch. He gave joy to the beaten down, the ostracized and those frazzled out by life.

Is my writing far fetched? Well, I serve a God that specializes in impossibilities. He can handle it. If you believe solving this puzzle needs us to place faith in fellow man- good luck. Let us not lower our faith and succumb to the current situations. God can heal Uganda. He can restore our peace – inner peace. We need Easter to give us a new vision!

Thank God for all the revival and deliverance conventions i have seen across churches. Yes, thank God.

Christians, I believe it is time to celebrate Easter knowing what it is all about. We have built walls to keep those who are different out. We have modeled to the world hatred, division and quarreling. We need Easter to forgive and renew!

In our personal lives we grieve the death of loved ones, we grieve the death of dreams, and we grieve the death of once healthy lives. We are scared of the future and we regret so much of the past. We need Easter to make us new!

Yes, we need Easter! We need Easter because none of us is perfect, because none of us is blameless, and because none of us can heal our brokenness on our own. We need Easter, (this whole seven-week season) so that we can start over. We too have the chance to come alive again!

I believe that the ability to be made new comes from the resurrection of Jesus, the son of God, from the dead. At Easter we celebrate that we die with Jesus and are raised with Jesus. We celebrate because all people can, and are, being remade into something better! We have a second chance to be what you were created to be.

It is not too late to begin again! Happy Easter!
