Organizers of the annual Viga Music Awards have on Thursday addressed members of the press about their forthcoming awarding ceremony slated for 31st May, 2019 at Kampala Serena Hotel.

The Awards CEO, Mr Dan Lwasa promised the first-of its kind christian event, also aimed at celebrating 10 years of awarding gospel talent in Uganda.

Mr Dan Lwasa revealed that unlike any other year, his team registered the highest number of voters this year from various parts of the world.

The awards work in such a way that members of the general public vote for their most favorite gospel artists in over 32 categories.

“We are going to have the best time ever. We have a list of artists set to perform. We have guests coming in. I want to assure you, it is going to be a great time that you can start your Martyrs weekend with,” Mr Dan Lwasa said.

“I would like to thank every one who has been with us since we started this journey. I want to urge everyone that this is the beginning of gospel music in the country. We are the ones setting the pace, and are going to keep it up to the level that God wants us to do,” he said.

The presser was graced by Kenyan gospel musicians Evelyn Wanjiru and Joe Tingseh.

The duo will minister at the awarding ceremony along side well known artists like Zabuli, Justine Nabbosa, Levixone among others.

“I believe they are going to deliver to the very extent that Ugandans expect from them,” Mr Dan Lwasa said.

Sponsors of this year’s Viga Music awards include Coca Cola, Next Media Services, Nexus Events, Sparkles salon and Ethiopian airlines among others.

Mr Deo Abdulrahim, head of trade marketing at Next Media Services, one of the Awards sponsor said they will support the Christian event through their media Channels.

“We have chosen NBS to push the VIGA awards to the heights that we want it to reach. We are going to support you in every way that we can. On television, we will cross post the Viga awards on our other platforms including Sanyuka TV, Salam TV. What is interesting is that there is an audience for this kind of content also on Salam TV (Islamic TV Channel). Online, we are also going to push you with all the best kind of content we can possibly have. The sky is the limit for the kind of offers we want to give the Viga awards, and we are also open to suggestions,” he said.

Tickets to the 4pm event are Ush100,000, Ush300,000 for VIP and Ush3,000,000 for a table.
