Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni declared 29th August 2020 a national day of prayer and public holiday.

In a statement on Thursday, the head of State said the decision was made following a ‘vision from God.’

“A certain Ugandan came to me and told me that God had told him in a vision that I should organise National Prayers, scientifically organized, for God to deliver us from COVID 19,” he said.

According to the President, invitations were sent out for religious leaders to come to Entebbe State House and “pray together with Janet and myself when you are all watching on TV or listening on Radios,” he said.

The event will be conducted under the theme, “Thus far has the LORD helped us,” inspired by 1Samuel 7:12. Bishop Joshua Lwere will be the day’s preacher.

The co-celebrants are: Sheikh Ramadhan Mubaje, Eminence Metropolitan Jonah Lwanga, Grace Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, His Grace Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, Apostle Dr. Joseph Serwadda
