Award for Community Transformation goes to Watoto Child Care Ministries

Watoto Child Care Ministries was presented with the 2019 Award for Community Transformation (ACT) on Saturday by Worship Harvest Ministries in Naalya.

The prestigious award handed out during Transform conference, along with a dummy cheque of 3 million Ugandan shillings, indicated that Watoto Child Care Ministries has been instrumental in making a significant impact within communities across Uganda.  

Other institutions that received recognition included Girls for Girls, and Sooo Many Stories, an independent publishing house that showcases Ugandan writers and Ugandan literature.

Watoto Child Care Ministries is a ministry of Watoto Church in Uganda stated in 1994. The organisation has placed thousands of orphans in families, empowered vulnerable women to reach their communities, rescued babies and former child soldiers, and sent children’s choirs across six continents.

Guest speakers at Transform were brought in from across the region to address various unique topics. Speakers ranged from financial planners to leadership experts, entrepreneurs to marketing professionals, each speaking on a topic related to their field that startups should be informed about.

They included Worship Harvest lead pastor Moses Mukisa (Certified John Maxwell Team Speaker, Trainer and Coach), Muriithi Wanjau (senior pastor of Mavuno Church), Dr Ian Clarke (Executive Chairman of Clarke Group), Ariho Kamara (Group CEO, Nomad.), Noah Baalessanvu (IT & Cyber Security Consultant), Mr. Hassan Kibirango (Pastor, Christian Life Assembly), Mrs. Manuela Pacutho Mulondo (Founder and CEO of The Cradle) and others.

Last year, Worship Harvest accorded Rev Diana Nkesiga an award for her effort in the fight against cancer in Uganda.
