What Christians need to remember ahead of 2021 polls

'Who is coming will determine what is coming': Ap. John Bunjo

The election season in the country is nigh. Just recently, the Electoral Commission carried out nominations for the 2021-2026 presidential candidates – and the list included a number of Christians leaders.

There are a number of things that Ap. / Dr. John Bunjo believes the Church needs to remember ahead of the tight race.

The founder of Christian Restoration Ministries International explained recently that whenever there is an election in a nation, Christians are faced with a decision that requires them to make a crucial choice.

‘Choices are seeds.’

The preacher observed in his sermon labeled ‘Understanding The Times’ that the choice Ugandans will make next year is capable of setting into motion laws or forces whether good or evil.

“God will never violate our power of choice,” Apostle Bunjo said. “Decisions have powerful effects, and therefore they should never be taken lightly or mindlessly.”

As you decide which candidate to vote, Mr Bunjo believes that “you must be very conscious, very critical, analytical – even spiritual.”

“This election is very crucial for as far as the destiny of the nation is concerned,” he continued.

A call to fasting and Prayer

Apostle Bunjo stated that Scriptures are relevant in every situation, and that a season of fasting and praying for Uganda’s general elections is crucial.

Covenant Nations Church (CNC) where Pastor Patience Rwabwogo is lead Pastor earlier encouraged Christians to be part of a fasting season aimed at, among others, praying for the 2021 elections, governance sphere and future of Uganda.

“The situation at hand now globally warrants nothing less than righteous, fervent, committed and consistent prayers accompanied with prayers and especially with fasting (James 5:6),” said Pastor Simon Peter Ochero in a statement issued by CNC.

“In Uganda, the situation is quite more complicated because we are faced with two fronts of challenges of which we shouldn’t take carnally, there is the Covid 19 issue and now the election period. In such a situation, we need only God (Proverbs 29:2),” he added.
