Advice for singles as Sinach marks 7th wedding anniversary

'A godly marriage is a picture of our relationship with Jesus Christ.'

On this day, 7 years ago, multi award-winning gospel musician and worship leader Sinach said ‘I do’ to Christ Embassy Pastor, Joseph Egbu.

She is known globally for several gospel songs which include, ‘Way Maker’, ‘I Know Who I Am’, ‘Great Are you Lord’, ‘He did it Again’, ‘I stand Amazed’ and many more.

Now, what is unique about about Sinach’s life story is the fact that she got married in her forties, and had her first child at the age of 46. In society today, being unmarried ‘later in life’ may come with a total mixed bag of emotions.

For Sinach, that wasn’t the case. She revealed earlier in an interview with Premier, a British-based Christian radio station that being single is not always easy, but there’s plenty to be thankful for about that season of life.

She urged that the mistake many singles make is to desire marriage with intentions of looking to their spouses for true fulfilment and not God.

“You must come to a place where you are content beyond [marriage], and then, you can find a man that has the same purpose. If you are not content being unmarried, it is unlikely you will be content being married because your contentment does not come from being married or not being married,” she said.

“Fulfilment comes from executing God’s vision for your life. The key is to be content with where God has placed you because your happiness is not coming from your husband. It is not coming from anywhere else… Fulfilment will come from the calling God has upon your life. The secret to happiness is pursuing the things God has placed in your heart,” she said.

Elsewhere, in an interview with Televangelist Rev Kathy Kiuna, Sinach urged last year that she was in courtship with Joseph Egbu for about 3 (three) years before they exchanged their wedding vows, and added that her husband is not intimated by her success.
