As Uganda readies for late Andrew Felix Kaweesi’s burial due to take place at his ancestral home in Lwengo district on Tuesday, Mrs Annet Kaweesi, wife of the deceased, has called upon all mourners to pray for her during this moment.

Annet was unable to speak during the husband’s funeral service at Rubaga Cathedral on Monday, however a family member was selected to speak on her behalf.

She requests mourners to pray for her during this moment so that she is able to raise her children. It is reported that AIGP Kaweesi has left behind “4 children plus the unborn yet to come.”

“I think you have read the newspapers, when AIGP Kaweesi was shot at, his first and last words were ‘My Children'”

She thanked Uganda Police, Government, President Museveni for offering her late husband a job, and all the mourners for standing with her through this trying time.

It was revealed during the speech that on Wednesday, Annet will be undergoing an operation – This will be a day after her husband’s burial.

“Up to now, I keep asking myself what Kaweesi did wrong to deserve such a tragedy! He was a smiling angel. The nation has lost a treasure.” Inspector General of Police of the Uganda Police Force General Edward Kalekezi Kayihura said.

Uganda Christian University (UCU) vice chancellor John Ssenyonyi thanked the late Felix Kaweesi for the support he gave to the University.

Ugandans on social media have applauded Archbishop Cyprian Lwanga’s speech, in which he has condemned murder, sighting the 10 commandments.

The Archbishop told believers to reflect on what they do each day, for “the quality of life is much more important than the number of years lived.”

“Kaweesi was a man of faith, peace loving and very down to earth. Let us remember our national motto. Can you kill someone for God and your country? …Murder is against the 10 commandments of God…Life is a precious gift from God. “Arch Bishop Lwanga said in part.

“We have crime preventers, am I right? Then it’s high time they started doing what they are supposed to do; to prevent crime,” He further said. “Our presence in such big numbers does reflect how Kaweesi has touched many lives in this country.”
